Want to simplify your Excel model?
Try rebuilding it in Google Sheets.
I'll bet you cut out 1/2 of the noise.
I've done some GS lately and while it's definitely lacking in areas (namely formula tracing),
It's also got great collaboration features (the comment tracking is much better).
While the programs are similar, the initial panic of "wait, can I do [Excel function] in Google Sheets??" forces you to refocus on the goal, not the process.
In other words,
You become limited by necessity to complete the task as opposed to optimizing the process.
At least that's how I've felt.
